A perpetual license you own
One payment, per software product you ship, and the license never expires. The engine keeps working on the version you bought even if you never pay again. These editions are perpetual:

Only Workflow Engine NEO Subscription is not. It is a term license: it runs while the subscription is paid, and the block below says what happens if it lapses. What it permits is not narrower, it is wider, since it covers a public web app or SaaS.
365 days of updates included
Every perpetual license includes 365 days of updates from the day of purchase. After that the engine keeps working, but new versions stop arriving. Renewing update access for the next year costs 50% of the license price if you pay before your current period expires. If you renew after it has expired, the renewal costs the full license price. Updates are optional: staying current is required only while a support plan is active.
Trials and POC
Trials run 30 to 90 days depending on the product and edition, with a full license key rather than a watermarked or feature-locked build. The trial key is re-issued every 30 days. POC support is free until the key expires and can be extended by agreement with the sales team.
Source code access
A 1-year GitHub window is unavailable on Team and NEO Subscription, an add-on on Complete, NEO Business and NEO SaaS, and included with NEO Enterprise. It is used for security review, audit, and in-house builds. The code is provided as is and includes the license verification functionality. After 12 months the library keeps working; further updates and their source can be renewed for another year at 50% of the license price.
Workflow Engine NEO Subscription is the only term license
Every other edition on this page is perpetual: bought once and kept. This one runs while the subscription is paid. The $8,000 covers 365 days of Workflow Engine NEO Subscription with updates included. If it is not renewed before those 365 days are up, the license falls back to the Workflow Engine Free limits: 10 schemas and 4 execution threads, with activities, transitions and commands unrestricted. If you need the engine to keep running at full capability without recurring payments, buy one of the perpetual editions instead.

Support is a separate annual plan on any paid edition. Trial and POC support is free for 30 days after your first request, runs until the trial key expires, and includes one Google Meet consultation with a presale engineer. Reporting a bug or a security issue does not count against the ticket allowance of your support plan. We fix defects and security issues in the engine at our own expense, whether or not you have a support plan: it is our product, not your budget. Your tickets stay for the questions only a support plan answers, such as integration help, architecture advice, and demonstration examples.
Build it in the designer, connect the commands to your C# code, and run it on your own database. The integration guide takes about an hour to follow. Workflow Engine Free works without a license key or a call with sales, and the same code runs in the paid editions if you decide to upgrade.
