Before you look at a price, decide which product you need. Workflow Engine Free and Workflow Engine are the same library, called from your C# code. Workflow Engine NEO adds a ready HTTP API and multitenancy. Workflow Server is a separate service you run in Docker. The comparison page shows what each product does, what is included, and what needs a paid edition or an add-on. Read it first, and the table below will make sense.

## How licensing and updates work

There are no royalties and no per-execution fees. The commercial model is public and there is no fine print to discover later. Here is the whole thing, spelled out.

### A perpetual license you own

One payment, per software product you ship, and the license never expires. The engine keeps working on the version you bought even if you never pay again. These editions are perpetual:

- Workflow Engine Free
- Workflow Engine Team
- Workflow Engine Complete
- Workflow Engine NEO Business
- Workflow Engine NEO SaaS
- Workflow Engine NEO Enterprise

Only Workflow Engine NEO Subscription is not. It is a term license: it runs while the subscription is paid, and the block below says what happens if it lapses. What it permits is not narrower, it is wider, since it covers a public web app or SaaS.

### 365 days of updates included

Every perpetual license includes 365 days of updates from the day of purchase. After that the engine keeps working, but new versions stop arriving. Renewing update access for the next year costs 50% of the license price if you pay before your current period expires. If you renew after it has expired, the renewal costs the full license price. Updates are optional: staying current is required only while a support plan is active.

### Trials and POC

Trials run 30 to 90 days depending on the product and edition, with a full license key rather than a watermarked or feature-locked build. The trial key is re-issued every 30 days. POC support is free until the key expires and can be extended by agreement with the sales team.

### Source code access

A 1-year GitHub window is unavailable on Team and NEO Subscription, an add-on on Complete, NEO Business and NEO SaaS, and included with NEO Enterprise. It is used for security review, audit, and in-house builds. The code is provided as is and includes the license verification functionality. After 12 months the library keeps working; further updates and their source can be renewed for another year at 50% of the license price.

## Workflow Engine NEO Subscription is the only term license

Every other edition on this page is perpetual: bought once and kept. This one runs while the subscription is paid. The $8,000 covers 365 days of Workflow Engine NEO Subscription with updates included. If it is not renewed before those 365 days are up, the license falls back to the Workflow Engine Free limits: 10 schemas and 4 execution threads, with activities, transitions and commands unrestricted. If you need the engine to keep running at full capability without recurring payments, buy one of the perpetual editions instead.

## Support included with the license

Every license comes with some support before you buy a plan. How much depends on the product and edition, and the window starts after your purchase and trial period, not on the day you first email us.

- **Self-serve** (Community, Team, NEO Subscription). Documentation and GitHub discussions. No ticket channel is included with the license itself, so add a support plan if you want a committed response time.
- **2 months** (Complete, NEO Business, NEO SaaS). Two months of direct support from the engineering team, starting after your purchase and trial period. Same ticket channel as the paid plans, for the window when integration questions actually come up.
- **12 months** (NEO Enterprise). Twelve months of standard support after your purchase and trial period, in line with the OEM and white-label commitment behind this edition.

When the included window ends, nothing stops working: you keep the documentation and GitHub discussions, and you can add a paid plan at any time. Reporting a bug or a security issue is free and unlimited for every product and edition, with or without a plan.

## What the license grants mean

- **Personal use only** (Community). Personal, educational, scientific, or research use with no direct or indirect commercial benefit. Does not cover distributing the software or providing services built on it to third parties.
- **Internal commercial use** (Team, Complete, NEO Business). Internal websites and internal applications that run inside your company's security perimeter.
- **Public web application or SaaS** (NEO Subscription, NEO SaaS). One SaaS or web application that you provide as a service to any number of third parties outside your perimeter. Platform versions of the same application (web, desktop, iOS, Android) count as that one application; the application is named in the License Statement.
- **OEM** (NEO Enterprise). The engine ships as an integral part of your own product that you provide to third parties, including white-label deployments.

## Support plans

Support is a separate annual plan on any paid edition. Trial and POC support is free for 30 days after your first request, runs until the trial key expires, and includes one Google Meet consultation with a presale engineer. One email inquiry carries one question: several questions count as several requests. ### Bugs never use up your tickets

Reporting a bug or a security issue does not count against the ticket allowance of your support plan. We fix defects and security issues in the engine at our own expense, whether or not you have a support plan: it is our product, not your budget. Your tickets stay for the questions only a support plan answers, such as integration help, architecture advice, and demonstration examples.

## Commercial terms

- **Perpetual on-premise.** Works forever, even after the update window expires. Stay on the version you bought.
- **No per-X fees.** No royalties, no per-execution, no per-process, no per-tenant fees on single-tenant plans.
- **Source code access.** Unavailable on Team and NEO Subscription; a 1-year add-on on Complete, NEO Business and NEO SaaS; included with NEO Enterprise.
- **30 to 90 day evaluation.** Full key with POC support during the trial, not a watermarked or feature-locked demo.
